Updates From Hotel KZ

With Chicatoo in her first official heat, how fitting is it that she will get to spend it her mom Chica, who is also in heat! Karen snapped this picture and tell me she doesn't get her amazing good looks from her sweet momma?!?! Chicatoo isnt in her standing heat yet. thats somethign we weill get to contend with after we get home. But you can guarantee she will get some pointers from her mom while she's there!

And then of course there is Blue - the TEASE! Karen's boys are being kept in the other room and blue would be the first to sway and coo in front of the gate to get them all wired up. She does the same at our house. But she also is a jumper. Where there is a will there is a way in her mind.

Road Trip!

When I got the news on a fellow friend and breeder downsizing I knew I could help her with at least two of the dogs she wanted to place. Karen fell head over heels for Colada the moment she saw her. Since her mom, Angel was on the list, I called Karen immediately! This was her chance to have her own Colada. They are carbon-copies!

Then there was Rane. Almost from day one, her temperament didn't bode well and her shyness resulted in an over anxious Chi. She was the one puppy from her litter that would have needed the most socialization to increase her confidence. She was also my daughter's favorite. Word that she would be coming back here to receive some rehabilitation made her beyond excited and we were all anxious to work with her. We were told she runs and hides from everyone and on occasion has nipped. My daughter accepted this as a challenge and so did I!

We drove out to pick the girls up tonight and got trapped on I4 for close to an hour due to a pretty bad accident. Add the hour and 30 minute drive to the pick-up spot and that made quite the trip for these two to endure on a pillow in the backseat of a strange car. They did AWESOME!!!!

The Girls Are Having a PAR-TAY

We are about to embark on our first camping trip of the year and with some of he girls still in some stage of their heat, Karen offered to dogsit for us. WE ALL LOVE KAREN!!!

Baby and Colada have spent time there before but this would be Ginny's first time. I dropped the girls off last night but  I wanted to stick around for a bit to see how she adjusted. Within a few minutes, she was up on the back of their couch, just like she does at our house - A sign that all would be well. Here is a photo Karen sent me after I left. Oh yeah - they are doing JUST fine!

Romanic Vacation Is Over

Colada's vacation is now over and she is back home - No longer in the throesof passion.

Of course, she is now with her best girly friends and I am sure in her doggy way, is sharing the tales of her trip - and new found love.

SUCCESS!

After all that tongue cleaning flirtation, last night Colada and Boy finally made their love connection. Looks like we can expect her first litter at the end of March.

Colada is staying with her boyfriend for a few more days to help guarantee the breeding, which I am sure will be filled with a lot more cleaning sessions. She is SO spoiled! The true princess in the eyes of the one who adores her! He won't leave her side!!

Colada Has a Boyfriend

And he is not sharing!

I dropped Colada off today so that we could breed her to Boy  - A much anticipated coupling - And she has totally been claimed by her new boyfriend.

Boy won't leave her side and it's not just because of the hormones she is emitting. He is a cleaner! Some Chihuahuas are obsessed with cleaning other Chihuahuas and Boy is prime example of such a dog. Eyeballs, ears and faces, Colada is totally loving the affectionate attention!

Visitors This Week

We are doing a bit of doggy sitting for the next few days and all the dogs have been in playmate heaven. We have Preggers, Heatmeister and Spazzie..oh I mean Tori, Chica and Rue.

Since Chica has stayed with before, she took right to the pack and to the house, knowing our schedule and slipping right in. It didn't take long for the others to catch on and it was even quicker for Chicatoo to realize she had her very own mommy over for a visit! She seemed to walk so proud, showing off, chest held high. The two have had a few wrestling matches and even a nap session!

Our Newest Addition!

We have had the pleasure of getting to spend time with Karen's amazing dog Chica as well as several of her past puppies. She and all of her puppies carry the most amazing temperaments. Very friendly, confident, playful and loyal. When Chica and her pup were here for dog-sitting, my whole family fell hard - Especially my husband. When the chance to bring her little pup into our family became an option we all became so excited - and honored! We have a Chica pup!!!!!

My husband was SO excited that he insisted that her name be Chicatooo (that is,  Chica 2). He doesn't care what the registered name is, the call name WILL be Chicatooo, or ChiChi when cooing her.

We brought her home today and she immediately fit right in! Like there was ever a doubt??? And in true Figgy form, the boys were the welcoming committee and showed her the way. I think they need to worry about keeping up with her!

We are so honored to have a Chica pup of our own. Thank you SO much Karen!!! We are beyond excited!

Saying Good-Bye to Chica

Chica and her sweet baby girl went home today but before they packed up to head home, she spent some time with the girls to say good bye. So many new friends and so little time!

After a lengthy romp in the backyard, Chica cuddled with me in my lap, looking out at her new buddies and she seemed to smile. Colada was the first to be-friend her and the first to say so long. SO sweet! Like she knew her visit had come to and end. She started by cleaning her face and then she too cuddled up next to Chica in my lap.

Too Tempting!

It was as if the moment Chica saw her baby could see, she became more comfortable with leaving her for longer periods of time. She has been begging to get out and play in the back yard so much today and it was a request I couldn't deny. She had SO much fun! She would run with the other girls and even had a few jaunts with the boys! She is loving it!

And We Have Eyes!

Chica's sweet baby girl's eyes opened today and her first blurry sight of the world was her and her mommy's private suit at Hotel Figgy!! With the perfect view down to the backyard, she seemed to have been drawn to the sunlight and crawled in her whelping box to get closer to the window. She is one very active two week old puppy - Actually getting up onto all fours and waddling her way around the box! Very impressive!

More Visitors

Sweet Chica and her new baby girl will also be staying with us this week and we have set her up with her very own private suite. The smells and sounds in a new home can often times make a dog nervous. Especially a mommy in protection mode for her litter. Chica has transitioned perfectly! She loves her view of the yard from the window, the private room and of course, her periodic play sessions with he girls downstairs. She was a bit befuddled with the backyard but Colada showed her the way! I am sure she was in smell overload with all the girls in heat and all of the boys having marked each blade of grass in the yard. Our pack greeter ran right up to her and nudged Chica with her body. It was so cute to watch. It was as if Colada was telling her, "Over here new friend! you can poop over here!"

On a side note, Chica's baby girl's eyes should be opening any day now and I will be sure to capture the moment!

The Little Mermaid

CC has a new home! The little princess tricked both Karen and I when it came to her weight. She charted in at almost 7ozs when she was born. In a perfect text-book world, that would equate to a 7lb adult weight. I never use the charts to state adults weights, but it usually works as a wonderful guide to help estimate using a puppies parents and past 6 generations to make my educated guess. Blue's puppies ALWAYS throw me a huge curve ball and CC's tiny weight is the proof!

Both Karen and I are not comfortable breeding females under 5lbs. 4.5 lbs has been done, but not without careful planning and a lot of nail-biting. CC hasn't even reached 4 lbs! YIKERS! There was no use in waiting inevitably for her to only remain tiny. While she is still under a year old, placing her in a home where she could be the princess was Karen's wish. I had the perfect home in mind to fulfill that wish!

My friend Patti had Ace with her and her family for several months, only to find the marking a bit too much to deal with. A female would be the perfect choice for them and CC fit the bill! They are a social family and CC is a social butterfly. And come to find out, when I brought her to her new home this afternoon - she loves to swim too! Which is a good thing because they have a pool that the family spends a lot of time in. Within an hour of her arrival, she jumped right onto the floaty and enjoyed keeping cool with the rest of us!

It Was A Chi Saturday!

Back to Boomerang Kennels to get more training from Aimee. This week both Ace and Colada got their fill. Ace needs a boost in his confidence so being held, fed treats and guided by strangers is our main tactic. Now Colada moved on with her lessons and now sits, comes, stays and lays down on command. Hot hot diggity - SO EXCITING!!!! Dewey came along for the ride and he was SUCH a good boy! After the other two were done, he had his chance to prance around the ring and show off that he is totally mommy's girl!

On a side note - anyone wishing to train their Chi needs to boil themselves up some chicken. It is what got both dogs to do exactly what we asked of them during their lessons. And while waiting for Karen to arrive with her newest Chi after our session, Colada did every thing she could to get to that bag of chicken!

Once Karen arrived, I got to see her latest and greatest addition - Riffy from the Davishall kennel. He is a cutie-patootie and  did his best during his session. The goal is for him to be her son's dog for Junior Handling.

Ace Has A New Girlfriend

Bambi is one of Karen's past puppies that she would like to breed to Ace. Bambi is such a perfect blend of her parents Chica and Frostee - The sweetest little princess that doesn't know a stranger and loves to play with both people and dogs alike. She came today to play with Ace and boy did they get along. With his bestest buddies begging to play too, how could I resist? The four played like they had been friends forever!

We all so look forward to puppies from these two when they breed in about 6 months. This will be one fantabulous litter! Great traits from both that will surly give her new mommy Debbie some show quality sweeties!

Serving A New Drink Soon

I have been patiently waiting for the arrival of our newest little sweetie - One with the perfect colors of the un and  fruity Pina Colada. Tell me that face is not to die for??? She is beautiful! Now I know exactly what it is like for our new puppy families watching their new puppy grow. The updates and comments on their progress is exciting and Sommer has been so sweet to fill my in-box with all the latest Colada news with pictures. Thank you SO much Sommer - you have made the wait much more bearable.

What A Fantastic Way To New A Fantastic Year

We headed out to my friend Karen's for a little visit. She finally got to see our sweet Ace in person now that his adult coat is here and of course, we got to play with CeeCee. Just as I suspected, she has her daddy and grandma's lines' trait of slowing down in her her growth. I still expect her to reach 5lbs full grown, but she weighs the same right now as her brother Alex!! She has always been considerably larger than him. But I can now also see she has her mommy's thin physique.

It was so great to visit with them all today! Thank you Karen and Krew for sharing your last day of 2009 with us :)

Holiday Babies!

My friend Karen had a LATE night, with her sweet Chica whelping her litter starting at midnight. Three boys and two girls made their way into the world, making a wonderful ending to a wonderful holiday weekend.

For all of you looking to add a long coat Chihuahua to your family, Chica and Frostee's puppies are beautiful and generally on the small side. And of the five, two are definitely blue - one a blue fawn and two black. Be sure to check out Karen's site to watch them grow.

Alex's Holiday Adventures

With little Alex being the only puppy left here, we decided it would be best if he didn't come along on our coming trip. For the rest of our dogs its a free for all which can be a lot for a 9 week old puppy to handle. Karen was kind enough to puppy-sit him for us while we were gone and let me tell you- he had a FABULOUS time! Of course, he got to be with his sister which was just way too kewl - and a whole slew of other new playmates! Karen's dogs accepted the new puppy pals with open paws.

This was also a new socialization lesson without mom and dad's watchful eye! He learned more about playing fair and sharing as well as how to crawl up onto a chair and of course - jump down!!! I swear he looks like a flying squirrel!

CC Went Home Yesterday

Today was the day! CC went home with Karen to join her pack of loveable ChiChis. I am SO honored to have one of my pups in her program - and SO excited to have the chance - first hand - to watch her grow. Getting updates on our pups is honestly priceless and the emails - especially with photos -  make my day! But I will get to really watch her grow.

She made her way into Karen's pack with ease. She is such a confident little girl. Not dominant - confident! She dove right into play mode with her new brother Tuc and finally subdued to Boy's incisive need to clean Chi ears.

While CC bonded with her new peeps and pups we headed out to Dr. Mario's to get annuals for Dewey, rabies for Capri and 8 week boosters for Alex. They all did fabulous and were given a perfect bill of health!
